His reign marked the pinnacle of cultural and intellectual flourishing in the Alexandrian court, with significant advancements in both material and literary pursuits. Ptolemy II notably supported and expanded the Museum and Library of Alexandria, fostering a vibrant scholarly environment. Additionally, he commissioned the construction of the Great Mendes Stela as a commemorative monument. Furthermore, Ptolemy II engaged in military campaigns, including conflicts against the rival Seleucid Empire, initiating a series of Syrian Wars that led to territorial shifts in West Asia between the two powers.
