Hera is an ancient Greek goddess, revered as the guardian and esteemed advisor of the state. Born to Cronos and sister to Zeus, she is also his consort and the mother of Ares and Hephaestus. Juno, as she is known in Roman culture, also watches over the women of Greece.

Hera’s martial demeanor is evident in her portrayal, often depicted seated with a peacock, clad in a goatskin cloak. This depiction of her warlike aspect draws parallels to Athena, whose goatskin cloak, known as the ‘aegis’, was a symbol of her strength and protection.
