Aphrodite of Knidos sculpture – 3D MODEL

The Aphrodite of Knidos, dating back to the 4th century BCE and created by the Greek sculptor Praxiteles, is renowned as the first life-size representation of a nude woman. Its novelty was such that the city of Kos on Crete is said to have rejected it in favor of a clothed version.

However, the Knidians in Asia Minor boldly installed her in a round temple, where she gained celebrity status. By the fifth century CE, reports indicate that the statue resided in the royal collection in Constantinople, alongside the cult statue of Zeus from Olympia. Tragically, the palace was destroyed by fire. The version we know today is one of several replicas found in Rome.
