Aphrodite  Cleomenes of Athens (Venus Italica) was commissioned to replace the renowned Medici Venus, which was taken by Napoleon in 1802 and relocated to the Louvre. The Medici Venus, also known as the Capitoline Venus, is a copy from the 1st century BC based on a sculpture by Cleomenes of Athens. Venus Italica stands out as one of the most intricate and sophisticated creations, deliberately avoiding mere replication of the stolen Venus.
