A Corinthian sconce resembles a Corinthian capital, featuring a bell-shaped top ornamentation with volutes, two rows of acanthus leaves, and an intricate cornice. It stands as one of the three primary classical orders in ancient Greek and Roman architecture, alongside the Doric and Ionic orders.
The Corinthian capital, more elaborate than the Ionic capital, typically exhibits uniformity from all sides. The original Corinthian capital comprises eight acanthus leaves, each adorned with four to five lobes and five to seven leaflets.
Adorning the capital are three superimposed rows of intricately carved foliage, with small volutes positioned at the corners. Evolving during Roman times, the Corinthian capital remained prominent during the medieval period. The Roman Corinthian column symbolizes opulence, luxury, sophistication, and grandeur.
