The renowned marble sculpture known as the Apollo Belvedere, alternatively referred to as the Pythian Apollo, holds significance in Classical Antiquity. Unearthed in central Italy during the Renaissance in the late 15th century, it gained prominence. Neoclassicists of the mid-18th century hailed it as the paramount ancient sculpture, embodying aesthetic perfection for Europeans and other westernized regions for centuries.
